About this Timber

General Description

Accoya is a high performance modified timber produced through the acetylation of sustainably grown radiata pine. This process enhances the wood's durability, stability and overall performance while keeping it non-toxic.

Accoya is light in colour, typically a pale blonde to cream tone, with a uniform grain and minimal natural variation. When exposed outdoors without coating, Accoya will weather naturally to a silver grey. It is supplied dry with an average moisture content below four percent.

Accoya Color Grey: A pre-coloured version produced by impregnating the timber with a non-toxic water-based pigment system. The colour penetrates from surface to core, providing a consistent grey tone throughout the board. The pigment system is fade resistant and leach resistant, while retaining the same durability and dimensional stability as standard Accoya.

Working Properties

How This Timber Works

Accoya machines extremely well despite being modified timber. It cuts cleanly, planes smoothly and sands evenly. Its stability results in reduced movement and longer coating life. Accoya glues well and is excellent for precision joinery and profiles requiring tight tolerances.

Mechanical Properties

Accoya retains the inherent strength of radiata pine while gaining enhanced stability. It is highly resistant to swelling, shrinkage and distortion.
